On behalf of Athletics WA we would like to congratulate Lyn Foreman for being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australiafor services to athletics, including contributions as national coach, 20 years with the Western Australian Institute of Sport and coach education.

A former international hurdler, Lyn’s dedication to mentoring track athletes, particularly within the Western Australian athletics community, is evident through her work producing some of the State’s top talent over the last few decades.

“These awards usually happen to other people, but I’m honoured that someone thought me worthy to go through the application process,” Lyn said of the award. “With so many coaches at the coalface passionately coaching, I’m in a little embarrassed, but very proud.”

Fittingly, the award means she now shares the distinction with her late husband Wally Foreman, who received the award in 2003.
