Hooker bounces back to form

After a European summer of frustration to the point of exasperation, reigning World and Olympic pole vault champion Steve Hooker bounced back to his absolute best with an outstanding victory at the Continental Cup in Split, Croatia, overnight.

Competing for the Asia-Pacific squad in one of his final events before next month's Commonwealth Games Hooker put a series of no-heights and poor performances behind him with a stunning third attempt clearance at 5.95m to beat Diamond League winner, Frenchman, Renaud Lavillenie.

2010 Mullewa Gift Results

The 2010 Mullewa Gift was claimed by 20-year-old Dylan Panizza. After running second in heat two, Panizza ran in the Green silks from the 12.25m mark in the final and produced a blistering run to win from Brittany Pettitt and Glenn Ross. It was a superb effort from Pettitt given she is better known for her high jumping ability.

Panizza claimed the double with victory in an extremely tight 70m Final. Panizza got up in a photo ahead of Unasa Cole, with Pettitt again running third.

In the 120m Novice Final beach sprinter Samantha Plato claimed victory ahead of Aldis Jaunzems and Matthew Seaman.

In the 550m, former 120m Mullewa Gift winner and National Silver medallist over 400m hurdles, Dane Richter was too good winning from Ben Clark and Marie Decker.

The Dardanup Gift will be held on the 9th of October. Entries for that will open next week.
